What to Expect
A House with Vibrant Colours and Beautiful Details
As you approach, a thick wooden brown door adorned with small metal circles and a striking knocker invites you to enter. Inside, a small courtyard features a central green space with a tall, leafy tree and a nearby jar with flowing water. The green area is surrounded by brown doors, sky-blue windows, and trees that seem to stand guard at the room entrances. The rooms are distinguished by "rawzanat" – carved wall shelves, wooden ceilings, and long wooden windows that resemble doors. Climbing to the upper floor provides a stunning view of the open courtyard at the heart of the house.
The house, belonging to the well-known Jamsheer family of Muharraq, is over a hundred years old. Despite undergoing restoration, it retains its traditional beauty and charm. In addition to its architectural elegance, Maison Jamsheer is home to old artefacts such as a wooden wall clock, a sewing machine, and antique cabinets and tables.
