Taxis
Taxis are a convenient, safe and efficient way to get around Bahrain. Whether you're at the airport, hotel, or shopping mall, you can easily find a taxi. Instead of waiting for one, you can book them in advance through a phone call or an app.
Taxi fares are standardised, based on a meter, and set by the government with rates slightly higher during peak times like nights, Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays. International ride-sharing apps like Uber are also available.
Buses
Bahrain has an excellent public bus network, and they ply along the main routes every 10- 20 minutes, so you shouldn’t have to wait for long for one. You can pay cash on board (275 fils or USD 0.73) or pick up a GO Card at the airport or any of the bus terminals in Bahrain. The GO Card costs 500 fils (USD 1.32) and can be topped up to a maximum of BD50. If you’re planning on staying a little longer, you can also get a seven-day pass for BHD3 (USD 8), or a 28-day one for BHD12 (USD 32).

Car Rental
If you want to explore the sights of Bahrain on your own, renting a car is ideal. There are several local and international car rental companies in Bahrain. The minimum age for renting a car in Bahrain is 21, and you will need your driving licence and your passport (in rare cases an international driver’s permit) to rent one.

Language
Arabic is the official language; however, English is widely spoken. Public and commercial signage is bilingual, displaying both English and Arabic.
